How Ayurveda see us?

The combination of the five elements gives rise to our individuality. We are, our own proprietary blend of three basic types (doshas)
There are certain qualities that we are born with and fortunately or unfortunately remain with us for our lifespan. Qualities like how we digest food, how we react to stress ( ever noticed that few people naturally are cool headed in times of stress but a few turn into nervous wrecks with equal ease), how different environments affect us( sleep eludes some if the room isn’t cool while some find it hard to sleep until they are cosily tucked in!) and even our limits of patience! This is because each one of us has a specific natural constitution called prakruti
The combination of the five elements gives rise to our individuality. We are, our own proprietary blend of three basic types (doshas): Airy Vata, Fiery Pitta and Sturdy Kapha. Vata is a subtle combination of Air and Space, Pitta of fire and water and Kapha of earth and water. Very few homo sapiens in existence posses a constitution that is either a pure Vata, pure Pitta or a pure Kapha. The greater majority of the population posses one dominant dosha, which decides the personality and physical make, with a second dosha having a relatively smaller, yet significant influence. In some rare cases, all the three doshas are present making up the constitution.
The predominance of the elements ( space, air, fire, water and earth ) and the gunas ( sattva, rajas and tamas ) and the doshas ( Vata, Pitta and Kapha) at the time of conception and during the time the mother bears the child in her womb decides the natural constitution of that child!
With awareness of our prakruti and along with spiritual practices like meditation, breathing techniques and good association, we can bring out the best in us! More about these qualities in the later posts.
